I have a gift for not knowing when I am in water over my head. Made my first clip. Then I said to myself, "Self...you know how to solder. There must be more. If you can solder, you can form a band. If you can solder and form a band, a plate added to a band makes a cap. No worries. How deep can the water be, right?" This is my second attempt at a custom clip (and other stuff). Miles to go before I sleep, but I will get there. This one is an Alumilite blank for the cap, body and section, Bock #5 nib and feed, and all metal parts are nickel alloy. I have held this pen in my hands more than any I made before...not because I am satisfied (at all) but because doors opened and possibilities are keeping me awake at night. This pen-making thing is almost better than scotch. (Well...let's not get carried away...)

[Photo of the metal parts alone was taken before they were buffed.]

Thanks to all. This was so much fun to make. Brushing up on things I learned to do forty years ago when I was a kid and applying in a new area. I am laying awake at night thinking about "the next project," and that feels good. Retiring in three weeks. My "next project" list is getting more exciting by the minute. Thanks again, gents. Keep making pens. Authors around the world depend on it.
