Alas I haven't had much lathe time lately as I work to build blank inventory going into the fall... However, I did carve out a bit of time last night to turn two I'd been wanting to make for a while. The first is my Oil Slick blank on a gold Mistral RB. Second is called Red Dragon and it's on a gold ballpoint. Both of them have turned center bands. I've really started to enjoy being able to customize the Mistral by turning my own center band with either the same blank or a complimentary one. Definitely adds a nice touch to the finished piece.

My apologies for the photos, we've got a bit of British-like weather in town this week and the sun isn't cooperating. Normally I shoot photos of my DiamondCast stuff in natural light so that you can truly see the sparkle of the diamond.

Nice looking pens Tim.
I know you the sparkles there, but it is difficult to show.
By the way our “British weather” is a bit warm.

Really should double check my posts. ☹️
Should read “ I know you can’t see the sparkles there”

Ooh la la! I find myself strangely drawn to your pens Tim :whistling: They look great

I love the turned accents you've put on them - the one on the rollerball works especially well.

Two really nice looking pens Tim. I would like to see them photographed on a white background which I am sure would make them really stand out and sparkle

Thanks guys! I'll have to get out the photo tent at some point. I did snap a quick picture outside and my photo software decided it REALLY wanted to crank up the saturation. Resulted in this picture.

Truth be told, the best way to capture DiamondCast material is with video. That's about the only way to get across just how these come alive in the light. I'm going to have to invest in making more videos for the blanks for sure!

As for time, who needs to sleep anyways?? I have it on good authority that Phil doesn't.

Oh, funny side note: I confirmed with Chad at Turner's Warehouse that there was a bit of a run on Mistral accent turning bushings over the past two days. :thinks:

Hi Tim.
You can put post videos on here.
Don't be sending Phil anymore blanks, I believe he's inundated with boxes

I've got guys coming Friday to install a heat pump in the garage/shop. I need to send out LOTS of boxes to pay for that little visit!

Ya know, I'm pretty sure I bought one of those fancy little turn tables specifically for doing videos. Now to figure out where I put it...
