Yeah I just put it on as a bit of fun, I’ll try & find time to sort photos of the pens & put a few on the forum over the weekend, but I’m not feeling to great at the moment & rushed off my feet with one thing or another, as you’ve seen I’ve already posted about the Label Cast Blanks

Haven't got a clue what you are talking about lol, so as a complete newbie to pen making what is label casting & whats the template used for??
Probably a silly question but sorry I don't know the answer !!

First of all Martin, hope your enjoying your new found hobby and it’s certainly not a silly question, especially with my cryptic photos lol

Label Casting / image casting is the process of printing out images onto self adhesive label sheets, cutting them out to the correct size for the chosen pen tube, wrapping the label around the tube, then casting the tube in clear resin, to produce a pen blank with a image on that you then turn in the usual way you turn acrylic blanks. You can see a selection of the finished blanks by clicking here, I will get some images of the finished pens & post some as a reply on here shortly.

Now that I’ve hopefully explained that well enough? You may realise that the “template” is in fact just a waste sheet of self adhesive paper with all the images cut out & the other photo is of the waste shavings from turning the blanks, just my weird sense of humour lol

Regards Paul

Here’s a few photos of some of our finished label / image cast pens, the photos don’t really do them justice as the acrylic is polished to quite a high shine, but they look quite flat in the photos.

Thanks for the explanation & photos Paul, I just make wooden pens & haven't looked at anything to do with acrylic so that is probably why I hadn't a clue what you were talking about lol
To much mess to clear up for me with acrylic, I already spend to much time cleaning acrylic & aluminium composite chips/dust off the wall panel saw & the CNC machine without adding the lathe to the list lol
