I painted the tube gloss black then stuck some nail art gold shapes on it.
Using easy cast epoxy resin I cast it,. Three days later I decided to turn it, I had some tiny bubbles but went ahead and finished it and assembled it.
Unfortunately I only had a silver pen kit. It turned out alright, but I don't think the photo shows that.

Yes Jim, I have got the water clear resin to try, the one I've got now the epoxy takes for ever to reach turning ready.

Billy, I was going to use that exact same phrase in my last post, but decided against it.
You are right, I am completely hooked.
I want to try everything now.

John from way over here I see a smooth as pen encased so well love the silver lining the chrome kit gives nice contrast with special interest thrust on the inserted gold designs.

beautiful pen John, well done. I am keen to have a go at casting but thought you needed a vacuum chamber? What resin and where can I get some please? Is the likelihood of bubbles due to NOT having a vacuum chamber? Questions questions!

Hello Bill,
I used Easy cast clear epoxy resin from Amazon.
Most of the bubbles were delt with using a hot air gun only.
It took a long time to cure, maybe three days before I turned it.
There were some very tiny bubbles left, but not really a problem.
On My next attempt, I'm going to use Water clear polyester resin as suggested by Jim.
This resin also does not need pressure or vacuum pots. Hope this helps.
