Size Matters

A bit of a beefier pen this. it takes a larger converter than I usually supply with the pens I make. It has around twice the volume that the standard cartridge converter, which is huge in fountain pen terms. It was more to satisfy my curiosity on how it would work and look, rather than to meet any pressing need for larger capacity pens (although I do get asked that from time to time).

It has 14mm cap threads and the barrel is 16.2mm diameter at the widest part. The overall length is 154mm when closed. It is fitted with a Jowo no6 nib and is made from cellulose acetate. The rings and finial coin are sterling silver, as is the clip (in the last pictures).

This shows the two converters side by side, with the larger one fitted in the section.




I originally made the cap with a shop bought steel clip as can be seen on these shots.




Then yesterday I made a clip from sterling silver and re-made the cap to take it. It's my first ever hand made clip and is a fairly simple design but this was really more about the process than trying anything too fancy.

Well, I won't argue with you on size.... Some people like BIG pens, I have sold a few chairman's over jnr Gents...
