That's another really nice job, I like the darkness in that a lot.... I might have to get myself some of these kits
Revese painting is where you paint the inside of the hole drilled for the tube prior to glueing in the tube. It stops the tube / glue showing through translucent blanks. You can alter the finished blank colour with your choice of paint colour, sometimes really dramatically

I use a piece of cotton wool on the end of a BBQ skewer, dabbed in a little acrylic artists paint and swab the inside of the drilled blank. Allow to dry for at least overnight then glue with two part epoxy (other flies are available) but I like epoxy as you can also mix a very small amount of paint in with it to colour the glue just in case you have missed any with the paint.
You have probably guessed that I have been there ! From my experience it hasn’t ever changed how the epoxy sticks or sets so I have either been lucky or it’s waiting to bite me!As Mark eluded too, the colour of paint will make a big difference to the look and colour of the lighter blanks. It’s trial and error. One thing I have noticed is that with lighter colours of blues and greens then use a lighter colour paint. And with white make sure it’s white and black for black etc, etc..

Hi Eamonn, I have a pot of cotton wool buds, but have to go in both ends of the blanks, trust you to have a better idea
Try doing the long clicker with cotton wool buds
I use the BBQ skewers, good 200mm long tightly wind a piece of cotton wool on the end and you can keep your fingers a little cleaner.
I picked that idea up from the repair shop, Lucia the artist uses them to clean paintings.waterbuffalo

Love the pens mate.Been meaning to comment on the excellence of your photiographs. I also found the discussion on painting the intl surface of the prepared blanks.
