This was a 22 inch square piece of, I think, beech.
Some old duffer dpwn south gave me it to turn.
It was cupped a bit and cracked on one side, no problem can turn the cracks away.
I turned this over 3 nights & each night it had moved more & on the last night when I was finishing it, turned the lathe on and ''CRACK'', the blooming thing cracked on the front in the middle!!!
Ebonising spray with gold paint over the top, lightly sprayed for a distressed finish again.

It is one big & heavy piece, I don't like it because of the cracks but, Paula loves it so she has it.
