Davey you need to adjust the levels, maybe Steve can tell you how to do it in the software you downloaded.

You can really see the grain when it is adjusted.

Hi Peter
Thanks for that. I thought that it was to do with the settings on my camera and was going to post on here asking for help as to what and how to do it.
Hopefully Steve can give me some changing within the software. Will have another play this afternoon when i get the chance.

Hi Woody
Thanks for your kind comment and changing the pic.

Steve, Auto correct is rarely the best option does irfanview have a histogram correction? Let me know if it does and I can help you get a better correction than auto correct.

sort of
it gives a histogram chart
but it does have
a colour correction for:
Brightness
Contrast
gamma
Saturation
RGB

Have a look at the histogram and if it has correction there should be triangles underneath on the left, on the right and in the centre, if there is then pull the right hand side in toward the centre until it is in the region of the histogram data you should see the image change dramatically. depending on the exposure you can pull in the left hand side, but be careful to only move it a little as it will increase contrast, you can adjust the centre or midtones usually it will go towards the left.

Give it a try, most times it is enough to only move the right hand side.
