This blank was bought from the USA, a stabilised Black Ash Burl Double Dye Orange and Blue, on a Chrome plated Omega. This is by far the hardest pen blank that i have ever turned. It was as hard as iron. I was sharpening the skew after only a few passes. Was well worth it though .. Given a CA finish and polished with huts plastic polish ..

Stabilised dyed shavings come off like dust fairly typical for stabilised but finishes so well Jim Black Ash Burl is beautiful yours most unusual and beautiful.

Jim that's gorgeous and then some - we should have made it a condition for the colonies that they sent back these lovely timbers in perpetuity ! :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
