I got hold of a very cheep slice of Burr elm last week then got my new band saw delivered so I had to have a play and got enough pen blanks for about 16 pens depending on what type of pen I make it looks like I will need some brass powder or something to fill all the voids my new grinder arrived damaged in the post so I still cant turn yet a replacement is coming on Mon pen mandrel has arrived got some of the polishes and oil I will need so hopefully some time next week it will be lift of

Woody, I catch all the brass shavings when I turn brass rod down on the lathe. If you'd like me to send you some just pm me your address.

Thank you David I once done the same when I had my metal workshop but sadly I had to sell it all up when we downsized I will PM you my address

I would never had thought of filling burr elm with brass? I can't wait to see your finished pens Woody. :ciggrin:

Like the Pen Woody an excellent source of brass is any locksmith, key cutting establishment for free they seem happy someone has a use for it.
