Not a wood show as such but his event is being held at the Cheshire Showground, Knutsford over the Bank Holiday weekend, 24-26 August. Any of you live in striking distance? I'm exhibiting there for three days, any opportunity to put faces to forum names?

Game fair by its loosest definition, actually a load of tossers in pretentious clothing that they wear once a year walking about with Anastasia and their children Matilda, Rufus and Rupert whose only claim to have anything to do with horses is that they watched the 3.40 at Newmarket.

There's a bit of hunting and shooting, but the big draw at the Cheshire Game show last year was an international chainsaw carving competition which was superb - ever seen a six foot fish eagle carved with a chainsaw?

I think it will be Chatsworth the week after for me.

I'd love to do Cheshire but I fear the kids would play up.

T'would be a change to dust off my Barbour wellies :face:

Sorry Neil I can't make it. But I will send Anastasia and her children Matilda, Rufus and Rupert without me.

Well me and the wife nipped over to the game fair and it was actually pretty good. Managed to grab half hour with Neil and it was a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work close up and gain a good few tips on finishing which I will hopefully put to good use shortly. Thanks for your time Neil, much appreciated.

Great to meet you Keith, nice to put faces to names. Just got back from the Cheshire Game fair, and it was superb, both from a trading point of view and the general entertainment. Weather dodgy on the Saturday but fantastic on Sunday and Monday. The English Open Chainsaw Carving championships was held alongside the event and carvers had come from as far a field as Japan, Canada and throughout Europe. Saw one chainsaw in action bite into an eight foot beech log standing on its end to reveal the most beautiful pronounced flame in the centre of the beech, I cringed when I saw what he was doing to it, I had already pictured a series of platters, vases and other items, but he mashed it with a chainsaw. Never did see what he made from it.

Met Jim from the Olive Wood Turning Company who I mentioned in the posts about Southport Flower Show, he was very grateful for the business one of you had put his way by ordering 30 Olive blanks. He's decided to exhibit at Bowood House, Wiltshire in about four weeks so if there is anyone in that neck of the woods who wants any olive wood drop me a pm and I'll put you in touch.

Sold 76 pens so came away very happy.
