Had a bash with some of this over the weekend, and I'm not impressed with the result to be honest.

Now I'm certain this is down to ignorance on my behalf and not the product (Chestnut)

So if you use this, how do you apply it and how many coats would you put on a pen ?

Advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Phill if you look on the Record Power website/ finishing/finishes there are a load of videos by Mark Raby who specialises in finishing techniques and that is all he does. Have a look as he has one on melamine lacquer.

Take a guess
Cellulose melamine lacquer dries quickly but needs to cure, which can take days. When cured it can be brought to a brilliant shine with burnishing cream.

I have had some success with this.
I find a couple of coats to seal it, let it dry while having a cuppa.
A quick denib and a couple more coats, let it dry overnight.
then micromesh and a final spray, one gleaming pen.
I prefer ca for speed and hardness but it gets everwhere and I have to unstick myself from burning hot paper to say the least.:funny:

Thanks all.

Watched the videos, great resource thanks Terry.

Looks like the problem was between the floor and the lathe, I was rushing it and a lack of sealer probably didn't help.

More shopping :rolling:
