My local turning club raises money for a couple of local charities & we are encouraged to donate small turned items for sale at the different fairs they attend.
These were my offering for this Wednesday night's meeting.

3 tea light holders, apparently these sell well

A small Ash dish, 5" across spirit stained & gilded like the one I posted a couple of weeks ago

Doug,

Like your gifts sure they will add to others to assist others. Our Woodcraft Guild is divided into umpteen Special Interest Groups that meet separately each month and as a Special group adopt charities to support, the Club itself calls for Woodwork some worth up to a thousand are donated for an Annual Raffle held in conjunction with our Annual Exhibition.

I commend your contribution,

Kind regards Peter.:claps:

How did you get such a crisp stain-line on the ash bowl?

I cut a small groove then burn the inside of it with a bit of formica, this seals the ends of the fibres & stops the spirit stain seeping up past the line.
I also sanding seal & masking tape the rim to stop any chance of a stray brush stroke marking above the line.
Just to add I found that cheap masking tape allows the spirit stain to spread under itself, so now use the Frog brand which although more expensive I've found to be far superior, FrogTape Painter’s Tape Painting Masking Tape
