Good video on using a Skew

Here is a link to a pretty good "How To Video" on using a skew. I don't agree on the choices of sandpaper grit he uses, but it do show good skew control. Notice how high he has his tool rest and where on the skew he is cutting.

Two good points in this video, one you mention Gary, regarding the position of the tool rest, the other is the control of the skew when he is near the finish, if you watch you will see how he slightly lifts the skews tail end, this is vital to get the shape you need towards the barrel ends ... Good video .. :thumbs:

Not forgetting that the skew needs to be sharp ... :ciggrin:

Why does ths always look easy when watching others. :nooidea: I supose the old proverb od practice really does come into play attempting to master this tool. :rolling:

Love watching short videos that make a product using the same tools from start to finish. One slight slip and the product is ruined. :down:
