My friendly tree clearance subcontractor at work was felling some hawthorn last week and phoned to ask if it was any use. Of course I said yes drop it off. I've now got 15 pieces of hawthorn 3in to 8in and between 3ft to 4ft. Going to have to buy a 2nd shed soon to keep all the wood in.

A second shed would be quite an expense, I could look after it for you:whistling: I have wanted to try hawthorn for ages and have just bought a hawthorn pen blank, I should really get out to the woods and see if anyone has cut some and left it on the ground.

Get as much of that hawthorn as you can store, Yorky, it's a really beautiful wood! I've made (and sold) some lovely-grained pens from it. Works well with the lathe, and takes a great polish!
Bob.
