How do you put you pen kits together after you have turned them? I use a block of wood that has an hole for the nib to fit into and press them in a wood vice. For baron pens i just use the wood vice. I have seen the pen presses and think that they are quite dear, my cheap way up to now has worked well.

I used to use the vice Tony then I bought a pen press from Timberbits. It does make life easier.

A pen press does make it easier Keith, i used to have those big blue things that you placed on the lathe to press together, they were ok but changing them to fit different pieces made in a bit of a knob ache.

I now have a press but used the vice for quite awhile before buying it. I have also used the pillow drill using blocks which was ok.

I turned a couple of tapered blocks to fit into the head and tailstock of my lathe and I use them to assemble pens. Bit of a pain to have to pop the live centre out of the tailstock for assembly, but it beats the pain of spending $$$ on a press.
