Two pics one showing the makers method of holding the end of the mandrel.

My method using threaded rod recessed a snug fit for the threaded end of the mandrel fitted a knob locknutted on the threaded rod then a locknut for either side of the black siding, extended the thread on either end of the mandrel to locknut the blank on the mandrel.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:

The after pic(mod) The second nut from the knob is moved to the black upright to double lock the shaft.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:

Peter, thanks for that. Couple of questions: is there any kind of compression applied to the blank directly by the threaded rod? Or is it simply an 'idle' fit? I ask because I still see a locknut on the mandrel end in the second pic.

And since I don't know much about the standard Pen Wizard, how is the blank mounted to the mandrel? Just the normal way?

I know the Pen Wizard doesn't rotate very fast, so I doubt the rotating friction would be a major problem.

Thanks again for sharing - it's great seeing what's possible with just a little lateral thinking!

Have I seen these pics before Peter?
They do look familiar, thanks for showing and as I said in another thread I am sure your mods would be of benefit to the creator.
