This is an Ash bowl measuring 13in dia x 3.5 in deep. It is from the same Ash tree as the one Woody posted last week.
It was originally 14.5in in diameter but it cracked on the rim so it went back on the lathe for reworking. After being reworked I gave it 6 coats of finishing oil but after polishing I decided I didn't like the it so it went back on the lathe for reskimming with a scraper.
The finished article has 3 coats of sanding sealer and 4 coats of acrylic satin lacquer and then burnished.
It is now back in the shed until ambient temperature rises and the central heating can be switched off and then it can be brought inside without fear of further cracking.
