Alex I have a cheap one from screwfix, Titan I think.
Can't fault it, had it for years and it still works fine.
I suppose it depends what you want to do with it but with that budget you should have a fair selection to choose from.

When I didn't have one Alex, I thought I needed one desperately. Now I have an Axminster belt and disc sander, I very rarely use it. Having said that its invaluable when I do need it even though its a bit more savage than I thought and I still end up with my orbital sander upside down in the vice for finishing.

Hi Alex

I have the Axi 6" belt model like the one Woody linked to. Had it about 1 year and can't fault it. If the smaller version is as good then it should do the job

I bought the SIP unit from Toolstation and it is cr*p ... the table on the disc sander is held on only at one side and by a flimsy plastic arm. Slightest pressure pushes the table out of square. I see SIP have replaced the unit I bought with another one where the table SEEMS to be better secured, but I'd probably still steer clear!

Take a guess
One of my next jobs I must do is to upgrade my disc sander, for which I blame Terry, since seeing his thread I decided changes needed to be made.

I've looked round but most of what I've seen look insubstantial made from thin pressed metal & plastic but at premium prices, so I think I shall be redesigning the one I made years ago that fixes to my lathe headstock.

I'd be interested in seeing that Giorgos, could you post it up on the forum?

Doug and Alex and Giorgos this is a lathe I bought years ago purely for the disk sander on the outboard this pic was taken while I was experimenting with drilling blanks inboard and I discovered why it was cheap at the time the inpoard end of the shaft has a faint wobble so I only use it to square blanks and face my burl pen rests etc. I have five other disk sanders and three larger belt sanders the largest disk is sixteen inches. Its been 27C inside and 40C outside today been happy to stay in a lot today.

Kind regards Peter.
