Our club competition subject was '2 or more woods or other material laminated together'.
This is my effort from Beech and Walnut, 1st place on Table A, (despite the nasty little knot), dead chuffed.

I can see why that would win John, its outstanding, fantastic. That would be the pride and joy of anyone that owned it, created by a craftsman. Well done.

Jim, I did take a pic of the glue-up, when throughly dry, cut at about a third, flip one piece over so that wide Beech is facing wide Walnut. glue together with a paper joint, overlap by a margin enough for the wave to be cut, go through the double layer on the bandsaw, split at the paper and glue together. I then glued a waste block on one side, turned the inside, reversed on to the vacuum chuck and turned the outside, finished with sealer and Renaissance Wax. I hope this is clear.
