I am makeing a corian box at the min I was trying to work out how to start it it a 55 mm square block at the min my thought was a screw chuck but the will that crack the block or should I put it in the 50 mm long jaws I have but then thats hard work
So what would you do

If it is a thick piece then Hot glue it on a scrap bit of wood held in the chuck or on a face plate Alex and bring the tailstock up till all the corners are remover then you can part it off when it is finished you can use a good quality double sided tape to fix thin pieces to a bit of scrap wood but clamp it over night to get a good bondage

Treating it like hard timber Alex its more friendly that the rock like materials. Carpenter / Joiners treat it with similar tools it works easliy is the 3 inches laminated by you or some commercial process delaminating does happen. Care not to overheat.

Looking to the results.
