Well, got it finished.

Few firsts here, first properly wet wood, first time using Woodys paper towel chuck to remove the spigot on the bottom (bit twitchy but works a treat). Used the Simon Hope hollowing tool I bought last weekend at the show, cracking tool !

2 coats of Tung Oil, it will get more tomorrow.

6 inch dia, 4 1/2 inch high, 1/8th thick all over the base included. Will be interesting to see if survives the night :funny:

Are the greeny / black flecks in the wood normal for sycamore ? Was expecting a creamy white all through, but they appeared as I got into it.

Well done Phill on all counts so many first in one bowl and I think you are progressing at a wonderful pace I hope this will be the first of many and yes Sycamore dose have the green and black flecks they can be annoying at times especially if you wand a white bowl dont take it indoors till it is dry weigh it and when the weight is stable then it will be dry enough to finish

Thanks Woody, all down to your inspiration and education mate.

It is sat on it's panel pin stand on the end of the lathe so here's hoping it's in one piece in the morning.

I'm going to leave it as it is and see what shape it goes.

Good to see you kept the shape Phill, looks really nice, lets hope it doesn't move much in the drying process ...

You have done an excellent job there Phil and the shape is the right one for that chunk of wood.
Good luck with it drying?

Good job hope it survives:pray:. I quite like the speckled effect that would normally take hours to do if you had to paint them on:goesred:

Phill women seek after them call them beauty spots so you have a certain 50% rating in your family before you start. The predominate opinions were flower pot confess the block was that bshape initially.

Love it. Peter.
