When I was asked if I wanted a laburnum tree for turning I jumped at the chance, I went to look at it & was greeted with this.

It had started to rot & was falling over, so over the last 2 Saturday afternoons I've slowly taken it down.
I managed to get all the crown removed last Saturday between the rain showers & today I got the trunk down.
This is it back at the place I store my wood, the base of the trunk is in the background ready to be chopped up, the top in the fore ground with the axe in it. I still can't believe I managed to get them in the van on my own as they are both over two foot across.

Most of the upper limbs were infested with worm so I didn't bother with those, the trunk looked clear but a huge star shake ran the length of the trunk, so I just split it up along the splits.

I only managed to split & seal the bottom section today.

I'm happy if not a little tired with what I've harvested today, hopefully I'll be feeling energetic next Saturday & get the job finished.

It's one of a few trees I would go to some effort for. Hopefully you will have plenty to work with, it's a lovely wood:thumbs:

Well the effort that you have put in to get this wood home will surely pay dividends Doug, you lucky %*$"^%d :bwink:

Are you planning on drying it Doug, or having a go at it while wet? :thinks:

Definitely be drying it Jim, though there's an old boy over Newark way that might give it a spin whilst still wet :Toothless_Chuckle: that is if I can get chance to nip over :idontknow:
