As a lot of you know I keep Birds of Prey and get a few feathers now and again from them. Would anyone be interested in casting them in acrylic for pen blanks? Obviously I'm happy to pay... well when I say happy :funny:

Paul, I have unearthed my old fly tying equipment with a view to doing this, just need to wait for the wave of summer agricultural shows to finish in three weeks time and I'll be up and running hopefully.

Thanks Neil, If you're around here and fancy a fish, Blagdon and Chew lakes are only 5 miles away and I've got enough stuff for the two of us to drown a few flies.

Far too fiddly enuff for me to contemplate.
I don't like the tie at both ends, maybe different if the whole feather was stuck to the tube then encapsulated.

I've never seen a feather pen (perhaps I should browse for one) so I'm not really sure what the difference is.

feather pens

You could try sending a pm to Mervyn Cadman who is a member of this forum. Mervyn specialises in casting feathers in resin and has in fact produced a dvd (creative pen turning) showing how he does it. His cast feather pens are truly stunning. He's also a very nice guy.

Some examples of his work can be found here
