Recently I requested help with A project in mind in SURREY and Alex kindly has cooperated with me in an attempt to share by visiting the firm with some samples.

The firm has come back with a price to make a reamer from high speed steel similar to this one of mine two prices 1-10 50.41 Pounds or 39.80 Pounds now I have no idea of value in pounds in the UK for precision grinding of such a tool. Mine is about twenty years old now in great nick done literally thousands of operations. My attempt to share with Forum members. What do you think? Want one? It is sized for Slimline brasses

Pics of mine as sent to the firm naturally you would have to make your own handle.

Kind regards Peter.

While it is a good idea Peter it's not for me, I could just as easily put a handle on a pen mill if I wanted a manual tool.

It's a great idea, but far too expensive. One of the guys on IAP had a carbide one made in Greece for his acrylic blanks and the video of him using it showed it worked very well. I will stick to the Jacobs chuck and transfer punch method. I suppose it would work also for larger than 7mm with different sleeves.

Its a very nice tool Peter and I think it would be very handy but its a lot of money and like Brian says, you could put a handle on a mill.

Step drill, 10-6.8mm, (or 12-6.8mm) HSS cost £22 plus George for a one off, £20 quid for multiples, price subject to drawing. Drill services bloody expensive.

They might not be cheap but the amount of specialist drills they hold is unrivled

I use a mill with interchangeable shafts that cover most pen style blanks I think it cost me about £12. The mill cutter is easy to sharpen when needed.
