This is one I made recently for a WIP article that will appear in issue 81 of Woodworking Plans & Projects magazine.

The kit is a Junior Gentlemen's Fountain Pen Kit (postable cap) in rhodium from Craft Supplies USA

The Blank is Honduras Rosewood Burl which I think came from George Watkins who now mainly specialises in hybrid burr and resin blanks.

Stunning looking pen Walter and a wonderful picture too, I can see why you write about your work if it's all to that standard I would want the world to know all about it.
Question time: I tried to enlarge your picture by clicking on it. What is a Yahoo?
What is a WIP?
I also clicked on the resin burr blank link URGH what in the name of god is that? It looks awful and the price? I think I'll stick to finding my wood in skips thanks.
I can't fault this pen or the workmanship though simply beautiful, now tell me its a resin blank.

Thanks Clumsysod. Yahoo (which started off as a search engine a bit like Google) is the host for Flickr where I upload my images to. They also host BT's e-mail services for their broadband which is what I use and with which a Flickr Pro account comes free. You might need to register a Yahoo account to be able to see the enlarged version I am not sure but if you do it is free. Don't enlarge it too much you will see all the "deliberate" mistakes.

WIP is work in progress.

As for George's blanks they are like Marmite I think, you either love them or hate them. They are a bit pricey though.

Edit: It definitely isn't a resin blank it is all wood apart from the bits that are glued together with CA :whistling:

Will it work editing a quote?

WIP is work in progress. DOH!!

Great looking pen Walter, Honduras Rosewood is great looking timber and looks good on pens, as yours proves. Pity that it is hard to get regular here in the UK. :rolling: George's blanks are not cheap, but they are quality... I wonder if we could gather up enough interest here so that he would give us a good discount??? :thinks:

Thanks for all your kind comments chaps.

Tony, I haven't bought Jr Gents from Timberbits so I can't be certain but they look the same from the website although he doesn't stock the rhodium version. The threads differ between versions.

F(r)ankie, the combination of carriage charges, VAT and handling fees makes it only worthwhile to order from CSUSA in fairly large batches. Group buys are one way to go.

Jim I am sure George would give it consideration if the order was large enough. No harm in asking. He also sells some Berea Hardwoods pen kits that otherwise have to be imported.

I agree HRB is a fine timber but it is hard to beat some of our natives like burr elm or walnut. I think I have a photo of a bolt action pen I did with burr elm I will post it if I can find it.
