This is a blank that Yorkie gave me when Terry and I met him at Birstall. I am sure he said it was Blue Alumilite and Maple Burl hybrid blank. It is on a Rhodium Gentlemen's Classic Rollerball pen kit.

That's a nice blank for a giveaway, Jim! Do my eyes deceive me or is the barrel a little proud at the finial end?

Wow, your on the ball David, yes it was ... I didn't realise until i came to put it together, i had fitted the parts to the top barrel when i had realised the problem, but i put it together so it didn't miss the photo shoot along with the others i turned. :whistling:

First thing this morning i put things correct again ...

I just changed the original pictures ...

Boy, that turned out really nice! You did a fantastic job with that, Jim.

It's Big Leaf Maple burl. Some call them Mutts but they are really amalgums. They're more of a mutt when it's a scrap piece of wood with acrylic to get it to a blank, but this one was designed to be an amalgum, with the best piece of burl and alumilite rather than acrylic. They're difficult to turn but worth the effort.
