Dose anyone have any problem matching the hardness of different wood when making a segment blank

its simply amatter of patience when turning and getting the feel once learned no problem..... Main problems I have are in the glue up I have found that gluing eg Olive wood to Walnut sometimes causes problems maybe the natural oils block the glue binding. similar problems with binding some wood to some metallics such as brass copper and aluminium probably using wrong glues

I tend to use polyurethane glues or Medium CA... I also stabilise those types of blanks frequently, and turn the edges of the blanks first to limit possibility of tear out..

Sharp tools and patience are a must!!

You can segment woods with different consistencies Alex, its like Steve says, make sure you have enough glue in all contact areas. Buy some "Super Thin CA" it is good to cover your work with this especially on known woods that are likely to tear ... :thumbs:
