Can the oil content of some woods effect the glue when used for segmenting. I am asking this as in the past i have attempted some segmenting to make pens but they have either come apart when turning or when sanding off the corners before turning. Cocobolo seems to be the worst?

i know from experience that the oil content of Cocobolo shows thru the wood in like smudge patches, to get over this i have sanded back down to the wood with either 400 or 600 grit then started the process again ..
