This is a Brown Mallee Burl on baron kit
Finished with Friction polish and a coat of wax

The blank can from turners retreat got one left to make as a set for a some friends getting marred will post the other one when finished

Hi Alex quite an exceptional pen all round.

I believe the burl is Red Mallee Brown Mallee is a different colour altogether, I hasten to say Red is getting harder to find and fetches a premium over here.

Red is also more subject to splits,faults and harder and heavier than Brown. If your background is indeed blue if not your pen may have a colour shift that makes it appear darker so if I am wrong please forgive my assessment, very familiar with Mallee Burl, love it.

the back groune is white but shows up blue :thinks:
