One of my steampunk bolt action pens using watch parts, I used CA glue to bond the carbon braid to the brass tube then trimmed the carbon back each end on a disc sander. I made a set of dies to shape the watch parts the same diameter of the tube then anealed/cleaned and glued said watch parts to the carbon tube then cast then cast the assembly in clear epoxy resin.
