Finally got in the workshop today and had a play.

My first attempt at black lines through acrylic and to be honest I think they came out ok.
Can’t wait to turn them and see what they are like ?

This is a large block, should be an interesting one

Also a couple of plain blanks for Bottle stoppers and pen blanks

Great progress Colin many will test your abilities to utilise the brass sleeves to show them or not. Transparity can be tough.Love the slow curves, terrific colour use alround.

I watched a YouTube Video and the chap was explaining how it was done so thought why not have a go

I have a sheet of Stainless Steel (approx 2ft sq) cleaned it off so it was spotless, mixed up some acrylic with Black colouring and poured onto said S/Steel sheet
Spread it out so it was even(ish) then left to dry.
Once dry (not fulled cured) cut into strips and then left to dry (4 / 5 days) they just peeled them off the sheets steel.

No they are brittle but put them in the oven for a few min and they go flexible again, enough to bend into curves, shapes etc to fit in the moulds

Made mine a little wide (hence they are sticking out the top of the moulds :thinks: )

Going to make a 1mm to 2mm lip around the sheet to make it more even right across the sheet.
Pens will be made next weekend

The amount of work you guys put into your pens is incredible. I congratulate myself for being able to drill a hole and glue a tube in it :funny:

If I had half the skill of half of you I'd be a happy man.
