I seem to remember some saying, this was a poor show in 2015. Well I contacted Nelton and asked who they had lined up, trade wise for the show this year. Does the below seem more attractive and better attended than previous shows.

"Hello John,

Thanks for your email.

There will be a full list on the website shortly; but exhibitors include Trend, Record Power, Robert-Sorby, Turners Retreat, General Finishes, Powerbond, Ashley Iles, Rocking Horse Shop, Bessey Clamps, Charnwood, Crown Hand Tools, Old Tool Store, Magic Tools, Hamilton Beverstock, Chestnut Products, Jet Machinery, Triton, Festool, Irwin, Lovell Workwear, Lincolnshire Wood, Hope Woodturning."

Looks pretty much like the line up from last year. The show was ok but the best part was meeting up at Woodys and getting to know a few of the forum members and of course Violets wonderful food

i went to both Newark and Harrogate last year. Newark is on the way to my parents place, so it wasn't the mileage that it looks from Leeds. I saved more than the ticket price in postage for a few things that I bought, from both shows, but I probably wouldn't bother wouldn't bother doing Newark again. I had had a look at most of it within an hour, and another thorough look round after another hour.

Take a guess
This will be the third year this show has been hosted at Newark so is slowly growing in stature, last year was bigger than its first year & hopefully this third one will have built on the last two with more demonstrators & tool suppliers attracted.

Personally I think it's important to encourage & support shows like this, the way the markets going with less shops on the high street & more online shops the opportunity to see tools & machinery not only in the flesh but also being demonstrated is diminishing, these type of shows are great for addressing this.

Looks pretty much like the same line up as last year, I will go again because its only about 12 miles from home so hopefully a good few of the gang will be around. Although I do remember a few saying they were a little disappointed.

Hopefully though there'll be l little something for all :thinks:

John careful thinking for you to find out this information over here we only have one big show like this for trade displays demos and gear, every year we have highlights and disapointments but always attend and gain something from attendance. I note in comparison Bond films keep us riveted for over two hours so time comparisons vary according to mobility, distance travelled, expectations etc. The slogan something for everyone means just that. For many years the nearest for us was 200 miles away in Sydney. The biggest problem has become the high fees exhibitors have to pay then provide so called specials creating a vortex in costs.

As has been said online sales are great but without seeing them face to face we need some stimulation meeting buddies there etc. No biggie everyones choice to go or not.

Peter.

I will probably go again this year as I did the previous two.
I will probably be disgusted with the attitude of the sellers and disappointed with the ten minute walk and it's all done, as I was the previous two.
I will probably drop in at Woody's as have the previous two.
But then again I may not, it all depends on how much dosh is available at the time init?

As Doug said this is just there third year and it is growing each year these shows need time to grow to me the biggest highlight was getting together with like minded people cirect me if I'm wrong but the last two years we have had a wonderful time of fellowship as well as the show I think there is a great danger of losing these types of shows through lack of attendants the one in springfields in Spalding shut down after 3 years because people didnt give it a chance to grow same in Peterborough
Anyway Violet and I will be only to happy to open our home to you all if you want but I will be going

Lovell workwear haven't done Newark before now, but are a staple at Harrogate.
It may surprise a few but the reason Harrogate is so much bigger is usually down to Snainton woodworking supplies!
Anything you buy from the Record stand goes through their books, as well as many others.
They are the local agents for many suppliers. They also Sponser a lot of the demo's at Harrogate.

Anything you buy Sorby wise goes through the books of Turners Retreat, at either show.

I'm not sure whether I will go or not this year, though I will be going to the UKIWS event in June.

The highlight of the last two years has been dropping in at Woody's and trying to figure out which old codger is which from the forum!:funny:

I have been to the previous two shows at Newark. The first one I had only just joined this forum and didn't know anyone.
Last years show was pretty much the same as the first one, but more enjoyable for me as I knew the guys on here and we had a good time at Woody's afterwards.
I agree that supporting the event should happen. But I doubt I will be able to attend this year as Sue and I will be down that way the following weekend (Easter), just 10 miles from Woody's new house.
He will probably be able to hear the scream of Viking hoards from his shed :funny:

I will probably give it a go again this year, if only for the social side of things.

There will no doubt be some bits and pieces to pick up as there always are, but not looking for anything major this year ( so far :funny: )

I would like to go this year but as it is my 70th birthday on the Saturday I am sure there will be fierce opposition from the family !!!:sob::sob::sob:

Tell them that it would make a great present and to spend all the money they will give you, after all tell them it is your special day:goesred:

If you start dropping hints now by the time it gets here they will think it was their idea, win win
