Hi everyone, I've been cabinet making for the last 14 years and had a lathe most of that time but never really used it much, started making some segmented bowls and vases which was fun and found some pen kits, I like that I can go out in the workshop for a couple of hours and come back with a finished pen and wanted to get into it a bit more, also liking using acrylic because it's nre to me too, looking forward to learning new techniques and ideas, here are some of my turnings so far

Hi James and welcome to the Forum. You will find tons of sound advice on here.

Looking at that segmented bowl mate I think that you will be giving us some advice

Hi James - welcome aboard. That's a fine bowl. As Vic said, you'll be doing the advising, not the other way round.

Thank you all for the warm welcome :), I like to challenge myself with a project once a year and the bowl was last year's project, there are about 250 bits in it if I remember, I'll get it down and have a count in a bit lol, it was the 3rd segmented thing I made and is made of purple heart, cherry, cocobolo and maple, I hope I can help some people out but I do not know very much about turning or making pens so I'll have a few questions as well :winking:

Hi, James,

Welcome to the nuthouse, matey! That's an unusual and beautiful bowl - well done! And combining that and the pen it's you who'll be teaching us a few tricks!

Bob.
