Evening all.

I've dipped into a couple of threads, one more than a year ago, one yesterday, because I was "pinged" by the forum software telling me someone here had linked to my website. It was remiss of me not to introduce myself at the time though, so please accept my apologies for that.

I am packrat on many forums, and packrat68 on forums on which packrat was already taken. I'm an IT consultant by day, and a not-very-good knife maker in my spare time. Knife making led me to wood stabilising, and I have refined my process a lot over a few years, and now do bits and bobs for other people, mostly knife makers (and I am proud to say, some of the best).

I keep thinking I will check out the pen scene and try my hand at one before too long... I'm slightly wary of being hooked into another hobby though... I can imagine this one is very addictive, like knives :D

All the best,
Bruce

Hello Bruce. Welcome to the forum. I would like to see some of your work.

My knife work or my stabilising work?

My knife work is shockingly bad, I mean real beginner-style. I'm not ashamed of it, and will be happy to show it, but I didn't want to raise your expectations! They look like knives somebody's nephew made :)

My stabilising work is generally unpolished when it leaves me so photographs I take of it are less than impressive and they exist just so I can keep a record, really. The exceptions are a few pieces I did when I was starting out, and they are pretty badly photographed but can be found (here).

There are plenty of photos of my wood on other makers' knives, some older ones are at the same link as above, and I will try and gather some more recent ones if you're interested (in fact I need to update the website so I will do that anyway).

Thanks for your interest :)

(Love your sig :) )
