Hello from sunny South Wales.

I'm completely new to all this so please bear with me.

I love the look of finished turned wood. I guess that's why I like guitars too. Three at the last count. They're just things of beauty. Well my partner's brother turns pens and I had a look at some of his and was hooked. I've been sat in front of Youtube for the past two weeks absorbing as much info as I could:-).

Anyhow, I've also been scouring ebay for some cheap kit (been out of work for a year) and came across this that may interest some of you. Seems like a lot of blanks at a reasonable price. It does say collection only but I bet he'd give it to a courier you arrange. http://r.ebay.com/svV0Bt.

Not sure how much I can contribute but I'll try. Really here to learn and be inspired.

Jeff

Hi Jeff - welcome aboard. A great place to be, and difficult to get out of once your in. I'd check with the Ebay seller about the courier before committing if I were you. Some people just cant be bothered to package it all up, so they say collection only. Good luck. Looking forward to the photos of your first pen. Any questions, just ask away - there are a few grumpy old buggers around but you'll get the answers you need in the end.

Hi John

You didn't move very far from home did you :-).

Thank you for the very generous offer. I should be OK for the time being. But may get back to you later if that's alright.

I'll check out your facebook page once I've had another look around here. Still soaking in all the photos.

Cheers

Jeff

Thanks very much for the offer Billy.

I'll try and get hold of a small lathe first. It could be a while so I may get back to you if that's OK.

Really do appreciate the kind welcome from you all.

Welcome to the very friendly nuthouse Jeff.

If you're looking for some cheap but beautiful olive blanks you should try some from Neil Lawton, they are stunning as are some of his other timbers.
