Hi everyone,
Greetings from "sunny" Wales.
I am due to retire in 10 months so I decided to do pen turning as a hobby. I built a workshop and furnished it with a CCBL lathe and all its goodies. I like reading all of the post from other members. Keep them coming!
I started making Nautilus shells before Christmas and then in February this year to make pens. I have made 24 pens to date. My wife likes hand carving and hogging my lathe to do her bowl turning.

For Peter.
The CCBL is a basic lathe the same as many under other names. I have the Charnwood W812 version.
CCBL is what Axminster labeled their Perform version of this lathe, speed adjusted by CV belt driven.
Love em or hate em as many do, they are a goodly work horse but do require regular bearing checks and routine maintenance which a lot of people seem to neglect and then complain about them init?

Oh yeah welcome to the nuthouse Kelvin.

Hi Peter,
Sorry, the lathe was a Preform style, all yellow. It needed some TLC, but I painted it up, freed the sliding pulley system, replaced belts and generally re-greased what was needed.
Will post a pic for you.

Welcome to the forum Kelvin, any questions ask away, someone will have an answer although not necessarily the right one :whistling:

That is one very tidy workshop, hope its not going to stay like that for long :thinks:
