Hi All,

Have been lurking around here for the last few weeks and have already gleaned a lot of invaluable advice.

I have had no previous experience but having just recently retired I needed a hobby (so my wife told me !!)

My first lathe arrived yesterday nothing fancy, just an Axminster variable speed hobby one. have already turned 2 simple pens and had a blast doing it !

looking forward to learning a lot more but at the moment it really is baby steps

Thanks

David

Thanks for your kind words, the wife doesn't know how much I have spent on 'essential' accessories !

But as you say, it is her fault

Welcome David, you have certainly come to the right place. I find that pens make good wife pasifiers especially if they can be made for friends as well. Always remember that men cannot appreciate the value of cosmetics and women the value of good tools. Stood me in good stead over the years, mind you Woody seems to be the expert in getting approval for tool purchases.

You will find that the "essential accessory" list will get longer by the week

Welcome to the forum. You are beginning an exciting journey. So many things to make and so little time. If you make pens, lidded boxes (like George), and tops you can be a star.
