Greetings to all of you out there, I am new to the forum. As an abject beginner I have joined the forum in the hope, nay expectation, of learning something, anything.
I will soon be 70 years old and I have had a shed/workshop for many years. I have also had my lathe for many years. An old Record DML24, definitely not high tech, I have to use a spanner to move the tailstock and the tool rest. The speed is changed by moving a belt along the gear wheels. But hey! it does the job!
As a bit of background. i have been fully retired for about 6 years now. I was a nurse for a number of years and then had a complete change of direction when I moved to a company involved in motor racing, interesting but away from home a lot.
As you may guess from my username I play a lot of golf and my wife and I travel quite a bit, i.e. when we can afford it.
So far I have turned several pens with varying degrees of success, I still have all my fingers! Unfortunately I don't have any suppliers near here so everything has to be bought online, but I do go to woodworking shows and get plenty there.
As I am frequently away I cannot promise quick replies to those who contact me but I will endeavour to reply in due course.
