I thought it was about time i said hello.

I went to a local Craft fair before Crimbo, and chatted with a professional woodturner who was selling his wares.

Crimbo comes along and the Mrs got me a voucher for a day of making shavings.

Had a great time, and a week later bought an old Tyme Cub lathe & some assorted chisels from him.
It is all set up on a temporary basis in my slighly damp & cold cellar, clamped to my work bench.
Having fun when ever I get chance turning nice bits of old wood into animal bedding.:whistling:

Had a go at some pens to sell for my Charity

These are the first 3

The key to getting excellent matching of the inserts is to use material the same thickness as the blade's kerf especially in a celtic knot. Well worth the effort when you see how crisp and aligned they are. Have fun with it.

Welcome John. Three nice pens there & a great little lathe you've got. I used one for quite a few years & it never let me down. I got a speed genie variable speed upgrade for it which made it even more versatile. With the swivel head & outboard tool rest I turned 19" diameter on it. I sold it to get a bigger lathe & always wish I'd kept it.
