Hi guys and gals.

I'm new here and a novice at pen turning although I'm a qualified antique restorer with an HND in antique restoration. Have only ever turned a couple of small finials when I was at college many years back. Brought myself an Axminister Precision Pro Lathe and their hobby bandsaw a few weeks back and will be turning my first pens this coming weekend.

As soon as I'm allowed by the moderator I'll upload some photos.

Hi again, I look forward to talking with you all

Mel

Hi Mel - welcome aboard. The permission to upload photos is all to do with the number of posts you've made. You only need one more post and you'll be there.

Looking forward to seeing some of your work and chatting with you online

Welcome Mel. You will probably have your brain picked about some of the waxes and finishes you use in your restorations. I've heard there are some really good finishing products that the you professionals use.
Have fun.

Afternoon everyone.

Thank you for all the welcome messages, feel part of the family already.

Ok, so over the weekend fired up the new toys (lathe & bandsaw) and got to do 4 pens. Wife couldn't believe I'd made her my very first pen and was well chuffed with it, a simple slimline. Did 2 of those and two Sierras. They look ok to me and once I've posted the photos up hopefully you guys can critique them.

Back to work for now. :sob:

Mel.
