As you can probably tell by my username, I'm Steve and I'm from carrot crunching Suffolk. (Skiving off work today.)

I'm fairly new to pen turning and I love every minute of chilling out in the shed and spinning up all manner of random stuff on my small but competent lathes.

The last thing I made, I took indoors to the wife and said "look what I made."

She said "what is it?"

I said "it's a portable."

She said "a portable what???"

I said "I dunno, I've only made the handle."

Looking forward to comparing notes and possibly posting photo's of my work for you to laugh a....err look at.

Cheers,
Steve.

Welcome Steve

On here you have people with all manner of knowledge and skill, experts in various things and those that like me are only learning...

It’s a great mix and always willing to help... the important thing is to join in. I would also say don’t just look at the “FORUM” tab but look around the other areas of this site lots of useful things. Check out the Tutorials tab.

Most of all we love to see what we have all made... the good the bad and the ugly it helps us learn and develop and to know what to do to get better.

Welcome Steve. Not been on here long myself and have only a little experience. Learning lots - really helpful guys on here and some stunning pens! Not the busiest forum by any means at the moment, but what you see is quality. Also - have not seen any bitchy back-stabbing like you get on some! Enjoy - and, yes, a bit of humour goes down well. :winking:

Thanks for the warm welcome, much appreciated.

I've only been here a couple of days and the tips and hints I've picked up already has been amazing. Just reading through posts is a gold mine of information.

There's a lot of skill, patience and outright talent on this forum. I can't compete but I'm happy to learn.
