    Greetings from Cornwall

    Hi all,
Many thanks for adding me to you forum.
I'm an engineer by trade and for many years have been making a range of steam engines and clocks so my Cornish workshop is kitted out for metal turning, milling etc. Little did I know that my grandson would accidentally introduce me to the grand art of pen turning. About two years ago he asked me to help with a DT project where he had to produce something, complete a production plan and look at marketing as well. I must admit that I scratched my head for a while because steam models and clocks are time consuming items to produce but with that in mind I started to trawl the good old You Tube channels and hey presto, I came across a bloke explaining the ins and outs of basic pen turning, so that's what we did. We made up a couple of simple wooden slimline pens which served my grandson's purposes ideally. The problem was that I carried on and I'm now hooked on this pen creating lark, I love trying out and learning the many new processes involved in this enjoyable pastime. So far I've made the good old slimlines:thumbs, some acrylics, watch parts, steam punk and pine cone pens which have all proved very popular with family and friends. I'll be adding some photos when I've obtained the necessary permissions.
    Neil

Hi and welcome Neil I am a woodturner in the sense of I turn most near everything including the odd pen.

I also make wooden models with a view to getting a model engineer set up to have a go at making Locomotives, but this does not mean I will be giving up on the wood side of things.

I also would be interested in seeing what you have produced.

Plenty on here who can help with any questions so ask away
