    Greetings from Atlanta, Georgia

    Great to meet you.

My name is Patrick, from Atlanta, Georgia! I've recently got a lathe and a few other woodworking and turning tools from the grandfather who unfortunately passed away. I am hoping to learn from you all here, and I would appreciate any resources for a beginner!

    Kind regards,
    Patrick

Patrick my first suggestion toward success is to join a wood group in your area where combined knowledge is usually freely given and equipment they use will benefit your progress, all the best mate.

    Hello and welcome....
There is no such thing as a stupid question, the answers will all come and be helpful.
We all started in the same place as you, some progress quicker and some go in other, different directions.
Personally I would join a group if you have one local, but that may take you in other directions depending on the core of the club. There are some cracking good books out there to garner information from (again personally, Walter Halls book is very good) or you have YouTube to watch. Your the right side of the pond for tools and kits with some excellent suppliers, take it easy and enjoy the ride
BTW its as expensive as you let it become, you can turn pens on a budget, but like most things it can get VERY expensive quick if you want the latest or blingiest gadget which you don't actually need!

Hello an welcome Patrick. Hope you enjoy the journey of wood turning and more so pen turning. As for resources we can recommend some items but as you are on the other side of the pond to many of us your suppliers may differ quite a bit to us here in the UK but that does not mean that we would not help contrary to that we will help wherever we can.
    Please ask away.
If you can find a local woodturning chapter near you I am sure they will also help in anyway they can as well as seeing demonstrations of some of the well know turners you have in the US.

Above all else enjoy yourself and enjoy the banter which we sometimes have on here

Welcome aboard Patrick. Enjoy your turning & ask away.
As has been said, join a woodturners group if you can. New friends & a good place to learn,
