Well it's taken quite a while to get to this.

But they have finally accepted that I need a spinal operation to give me my feelings back in my legs and get rid of my Sciatica pain as well. (Well attempt too)

So I am now on the list for spinal stabilisation. (basically means jacking my vertebra up and then screw it in place with a few screws from me screw box, init)

Not looking forward to the op but looking forward to hopefully have a little less pain in the future.

At least I can now see light at the end of the tunnel..

The surgeon said that such a young fit lad like me deserves to have it done

Good luck to you mate, hope it all goes well!..:thinks: I have had back problems for years, all the doc's said to me was " You won't want to have the operation" but if you are young enough why not!

Good luck with the op Eamonn, hopefully it will work well and make life much easier for you.
Mine was done early 1987 under my company BUPA scheme so luckily didn't have to wait, in fact they couldn't get me into hospital fast enough as they wanted the money I guess:nooidea:

My op wasn't exactly the same as yours but has similarities. I couldn't walk very far as a nerve was trapped and leg would just collapse under me. I had a myelogram which identified discs disintegrating in my lower spine and then a laminectomy to cut away the areas pressing on the nerves. They also stabilised my spine and fused part of it.

Recovery wasn't nearly as long as they suggested though I was 28 years younger however it was a bit painful. I was driving in 2 weeks and back at a desk at work. It was never a 100% success regarding pain which still affects me depending on how much I've abused my back but I had full mobility within a few weeks.

They don't carry out the op lightly as it is major surgery and expensive so they keep you hanging on as long as possible but a good success rate I believe and hopefully well worth the wait for you!
I'm sure the missus will allow you to take your lathe into the house with a valid reason like yours. Suggest it before you have the op so if she beats you up you can have that sorted at the same time as your back.:whistling:

Hope all goes well Eamonn.

These Google ad things that keep appearing are getting on my tits. Here's the pic of what happened when I read Eamonns post:

I wouldn't need the operation Bob, I would need a coffin, for the life of me I don't understand why?:nooidea:

They have said I can't drive for 6 weeks, so I will need Gold to transport me around so I had better keep on the right side of her..:love_it:
