not sure if anyone interested
but I am about to build a Cot for my grandaughter
design is still in my head...must make some drawings

I have a rough idea and a stack of European Oak

along with a fair amount of plywood:down:
remit is:
a fairly light wood with some character
must have drawers below and all else left to me

plan is as follows:
3 drawers, hence the plywood...carcasses in 18mm ply & drawers in 12mm ply with oak face
all screws will be brass (to avoid tanning \ stain)
drawer runners will be oak instead of the "off the shelf" metal runners

if no-one bothered i will just get on with the task and not worry about taking pics

I know this is penturners forum so can see little interest tbh

Pics pls mate! I built one for my first, then used it with the second as well. Will try to dig out a couple pics to hijack your thread with! :devil:

One point - if you make bar sides the gaps must be roughly the size of a coke can circumference. Too small and feet/knees can get trapped, too big and heads will get trapped - no good! If you know this already just ignore me - I'm a protective daddy!

I have this theory of parenthood it is ongoing and completely individual I am certain parents are ill prepared for this long term commitment when they happily seek overnight or term care this responsibility is ongoing. For you to build your ark of containment is wonderful short of providing restraint small children soon figure out a way to climb into interesting places.

In later years the stories have filtered through our family network how they handled the first few years of their children. My father related he thought he had it all figured out until I turned two when fences no longer provided a barrier for me in the 1930,s. Fashions change and dictate space becomes a premium. Then the good news filters through of the next beautiful unique baby.

Steve its a blessing to make and do wish you all the best mate advice will be unending your workmanship will out.

Kind regards Peter.:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:
