Vic,

One of those sellers, igotthelot, has a variety f woods asyou can see from his listings. Most of them are useless for what we want, but the walnut offcuts are good, and make good pens. Forget the rest from his listings, the american oak is just about OK for firewood and the maple is normally very bland. I paid him a visit on one of my travels about four years back. He is worth keeping an eye on as he sometimes has an unusual timber but in the main avoid temptation. Rest of the stuff looks very expensive for what it is.

He has got the lot once again you pays your money and you take your chances Neil obviously has his address can tell you if and when he receives visitors if at all then and only then you get the oportunity to choose. My mate over here the Burlgetter wont have a bar of drop ins for him he just can not spare the time or aggravation involved and I dont blame him. what a vex subject timber getting can be.

He is not far from me, so one day will have to make a visit to his shop. Neil is right most of it is of little use and all of it seems to be kiln dried. Check the sizes as well, as some of it you can not get pen blanks out of it.
