Just a little reminder that you should always wear PPE appropriate to the job you are doing and not take shortcuts or make compromises.
I have finally got around to restoring the Stanley breast drill that Eamonn gave me. More on that later, I am doing a step by step and I will post it when the job is finished. Having stripped it down I was cleaning some of the components with Gunk which if you didn't know is an industrial de-greaser used by engineers and mechanics. Wear gloves it said on the tin, so I did, but the only ones I had were the thin nitrile type that I use with adhesives. I should have used at least a pair of kitchen gloves or something heavier duty.
I did not notice that the tips of two of the fingers of the gloves had been pierced by one of the components until I took them off, by which time I had acquired a couple of minor but quite painful chemical burns to my fingertips, probably as a result of the combination of a concentration of the chemical in the confined space and abrasion from the old toothbrush I was using.
