Painting Inside The Blank

How do you do it? I use nail polish and ear buds at the moment, but find this to niggly .. Hoping to find a better solution ..

Inside the blank Peter, not the tube. Also since reading Bill's tip i also now use his method .. It is so much easier and does the trick ..

ear buds and acrylic paint for me. I bought a tube of black and white from ebay- probably kids paint I think, but it was cheap at a couple of quid.

Do you also paint the tubes Jim? I have tended to do one or the other, but get better results with doing the inside of the blank rather than just the tube.

I had wondered about nail varnishing the tube. I tried the marker pens and that worked ok. The downside of painting the blank is that it normally needs 2 coats, so i have to be even more organised to do a batch. cut blanks to size and drill, a coat of paint at night, a coat before going to work, then glue, wait and turn. This pricess can take me a couple of weeks or more due to available time in the workshop.

I use spray paint on the tubes only .The only time I tried to paint the inside of a blank was a disaster..refer back to my recent post on the grey mesh Sierra from last week.

I tend to give a quick squire from the paint can or air brush down the tube, to much of a squire and you end up with far to much and the tubes won't slide in

When I do pain inside the blank it's Cotton wool buds Jim, I agree it is fiddly but works for me.

Having said that recently I tend to mix some paint with the Epoxy glue and find no need to pain TBH.

I spray when I have black spray and use black acrylic paint with a cotton bud or brush. I have been thinking if I paint tube and hole, can I insert tube and not use glue?

Spray can, I all so wear gloves, as painted nails don't match my outfit.

If i paint the inside of the blank i use cheap acrylic paint and a cheap artist brush
