Raking through a cupboard I found these apprentice pieces I had to make. A lot of the work we did was complex & these pieces were to see how we handled complexity. They are made of oak & all the joints were tight with no movement but after 50 odd years the timber has pined so you can see the joints. They are meant to come apart but I daren't take the big one apart, too many pieces.
Just a bit of nostalgia.

Lovely to see these Bill. You should treasure them. I do think we need to encourage more people to appreciate the value of the skills that can produce these, but I am less cynical about youngsters than Mark. I know some real young craftsmen out there. The real problem lies with the rest of us who value price above everything else and know the value of nothing. Mind you on this forum I am no doubt speaking to the converted.

Lovely work & memories Bill.

I've been laid up with a bad back last week & in her usual sympathetic way the good lady wife thought whilst I was captive we could work our way through 20 years of business bookwork in an effort to thin things out.
During this I came across a photo album of the first brick workshop I built about 22 years ago what great memories were in that album, I wish I still had all that energy :goesred:
